Colleen Wright, a new author, grew up in Jackson County and lives in Tyner, Ky on a small farm. The farm where she raised her two kids with her husband of 35 years. She is a retired teacher from Jackson County where she taught 27 years at Mckee Elementary.
Teaching elementary students is what sparked Colleen’s aspiration of becoming an author.
While teaching at Mckee Elementary, the staff and students said the pledge every morning, but Colleen saw the need for the students to understand what they were saying and why they were saying it. She would tell others, “When I retire, I’m going to write kids books and the first one I’m going to write will be about the pledge.”
Her book titled I Pledge Allegiance to Old Glory is an informational book explaining the words of the pledge for kids while also giving the reasons why we say the pledge. However, this book isn’t just for kids, it is for anyone curious about the meaning of the pledge to our American flag.
I Pledge Allegiance to Old Glory is being published by Christian Faith Publishing and will be available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, ITunes and other retailers.
Colleen hopes you enjoy this book that has been a 9 month long journey for her.
She plans on a book signing at the Jackson County public library in the near future.
