I recently received this quote: “You will not impact the world by faithfully going to church. You will impact the world by faithfully being the church when you go out into the world.”
The more I read this the more I realized how important it is that others see Christ in our lives. Now go back and read the quote in the first line again. I hope that you remember this each day when you start your day with prayer.
I use Charles H. Spurgeon’s quotes a lot because I think he was a true man of God and his quotes sure hit home often. This next one is a dandy: “If the Lord Jesus Christ can put up with you, you ought to be able to put up with anybody.”
Sometimes we get in the habit of just talking to certain people, sitting in church in the same pew every week, missing out of the fellowship of a lot of our Christian brothers and sisters. I miss a lot of Sunday morning services in my home church, and I have a hard time getting acquainted with the newcomers. It’s not their fault, it’s mine because I don’t make the effort to speak to them or maybe sit beside them in order to get to know them. And maybe we are in just too big a hurry to get out of church that we don’t “have time “ to talk and fellowship.
The bible gives instruction on how we are to witness to others. First of all: Math.28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: And in Psalms 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach you in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
Math.5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Now here is the big problem in 2Cor.1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him. Now let’s read the first verse again and ask ourselves a question, “Am I making a good impact on the world?”
Maybe you have drifted away from your first love, and you realize that you are not where you ought to be in your walk with the Lord, read 2Cor. 5:20 until you get inspired to work for the Lord. 2Cor.5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ stead, be ye reconciled to God.
Now I ask you, is your Christian walk impacting the world where you live? Read the first paragraph again. Friends you might be the only bible they read and your walk with Christ might be the encouragement they need to dedicate their lives to God. I will close this column although we could talk about this subject all day. I just pray that someone will read this and check up on their walk. Until next week, may God bless and keep you safe from all harm. I may be reached at 606-481-0444.
