The Powell County Health Department and the Powell County Public Library are partnering to
bring Character Building lessons to all 3rd graders in Powell County. Each month is a different focus with everything centered around prepping the students with appropriate skills that will last a lifetime.
These lessons are taught with a Super Power theme. This month’s super power is kindness.
After instruction on what exactly character building is, the students listened to a story about the super power of kindness and one about animals who learned how much better it is to be kind to everyone.
Students will have a sash on which they will add a badge each month after completing the task and practicing the skill for the month. Students were also given a flower pot, seeds, soil , and planting instructions to sow some seeds of kindness which related to the story read to them.
