A hot day you made cold
A tall tree you made fold
It took one call
For my leaves to fall
A hot day you made cold
I couldn’t believe what I was told
A tall tree you made dead
It fell with stories untold
On a hot day you made cold
I just woke up from deep sleep
I knew I had to lock in
If my team was going to win
The field was warmed by the sun
The ump yelled and the game begunThe ball was as light as air
I had adrenaline running everywhere
They had zero hits
I was poppin mits
The game ended and we shook hands
We got ice cream and hung out with friends.
Summertime
Sunbeams warm on skin so bare,
Barefoot sprints without a care
Hot dogs sizzle, smoke so sweet,
Bare feet tapping summer’s beat.
Cool lake water, a splash, a dive,
Feeling happy, so alive.
Sticky hands from sweet delight,
Popsicles melting day and night.
Long days stretching, shadows deep,
Secrets whispered, promises to keep.
Laughter echos, bright and clear,
Summer memories, always dear.
