2026, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. She was, and always will be, deeply treasured and missed by her family. Oaklynn is preceded in death by her grandfather, Clinton Wade Thorpe; and her great-grandparents: William Morton and Linda Roberts Thorpe, and Gary and Paula Abney. Roselee Harmon,
age 68, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at her home in Mount Sterling, Kentucky. She was
born on Monday, February 3, 1958, in Lubbock, Texas, to the late Lee Edward Caudill and the late Rosemary Cagle Caudill. Roselee was a beloved member of Grace Baptist Church in Winchester. She dedicated over 35 years as a leader in the AWANA program, including more than 20 years at Calvary Baptist Church in Trumansburg, New York. In her free time, she enjoyed scrapbooking and nurturing her flower garden. Roselee was known for her engaging phone conversations with friends, which helped her build meaningful connections. As the Lab Manager in the Horticulture Departments at Cornell University and the University of Kentucky for nearly 40 years, she was affectionately called the “lab mom.” Roselee’s enthusiasm for her faith shone through as she shared it with college students throughout her career. Her outgoing nature and genuine kindness meant she never met a stranger. With a remarkable ability to extend grace and compassion, she made everyone feel like family, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love and warmth. Roselee is survived by her husband, Raymond Harmon of Mount Sterling; two sons: Christopher Michael (Melissa) Coulter of Berea and Raymond Logan (Victoria) Harmon III of Hebron; one daughter, Rayanna Lee Harmon of Ithaca, New York; two brothers: James Edward (Ambara) Caudill of Stanton, and Billy Franklin (Robin) Caudill of Mount Sterling; and four grandchildren: Zeppelin Monarch Coulter, Caitlynn Prather, Maya Prather, and Sullivan Harmon. Betty Gentry,
age 89, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester,
Kentucky. She was born on Wednesday, August 26, 1936, in Stanton, Kentucky, to the late James Baker and the late Edna Combs Baker. Betty was a proud graduate of the Powell County High School Class of 1954, whose tireless work ethic and dedication left a lasting impression on those around her. Through the years, she worked at the Lycoming Shoe Factory, Continental Metal Specialties, and Bruen’s Restaurant. Betty’s organizational skills shone as she served as the Deputy Powell County Clerk under Anna Marie Baker. Later, she supported local education as a Para Professional at Powell County High School, and she actively contributed to the community by selling tickets and collecting funds for the Powell County Little League Program. Betty’s commitment to civic duties was exemplified through her role as an Election Officer. A devoted member of Bowen First Church of God, she found joy in her faith and in the simple pleasures of life. Betty’s passion for gardening enabled her to cultivate beautiful blooms and produce, while her knack for canning produced delicious preserves. Notably, she earned the blue ribbon three consecutive years at the Powell County Fair for her exceptional cream candy. Beloved by her family, Betty cherished every moment spent with her grandson and great-grandson, creating memories that they would carry with them. She exuded warmth and sweetness, always ready for a new adventure or a spontaneous road trip, eager to embrace life and share her loving spirit with those she held dear. In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Victor “Pee Wee” Gentry; three brothers: Glenn Baker, Roger Baker, and Earl Baker; and two sisters, Virginia Boyd and Ruth Morton. Thursday, July 1, 1982, in Martin, Kentucky. Erica loved writing in her journal and was passionate about playing Pokémon, where her competitive spirit truly flourished. With her sparkling sense of humor, she could effortlessly bring laughter to those around her. Family was incredibly important to Erica, and she cherished the time spent together, especially the deep, loving bond she shared with her mom. Her sharp memory allowed her to recall even the smallest details, and she often impressed her friends with clever insights in conversations. Erica’s vibrant personality and quick wit could easily brighten any room she entered. Erica is preceded in death by two uncles: James Goines and Francis Goines. age 82, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at her home in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born on Thursday, October 28, 1943, in Beattyville, Kentucky, to the late Leon Schooler Pasley and the late
Effie Ann Townsend Pasley. Pauline was a compassionate nurse who dedicated her career to helping others, serving at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington Country Place, Mayfair Manor, and Baptist Health. Beyond her nursing role, she served as an Administrative Assistant at I.B.M. A cherished member of Jessamine Christian Church, Pauline found joy in her faith and community. When her boys were young, she was a fervent supporter of their sporting events, braving all kinds of weather to cheer them on with unwavering enthusiasm. Even her vacations were thoughtfully planned around their games, showcasing her commitment to their happiness and success. Pauline’s home was a vibrant, inviting space—a beloved gathering spot for neighborhood kids who flocked to enjoy her warmth and kindness. Her generous and nurturing nature made anyone feel welcome. With her infectious laughter and positive spirit, Pauline brightened the lives of those around her. Friendship was immensely important to Pauline, and in her retirement, she embraced the opportunity to travel with friends, discovering new places and creating lasting memories together. She had a passion for quilting, transforming fabric into beautiful creations, and for nurturing her flower garden. Reading provided Pauline with a delightful escape, and she treasured the time spent reminiscing with her parents and siblings at the old family home in Beattyville, where both laughter and love echoed through the walls. Pauline adored her grandchildren, reveling in their company and creating joyful moments as they played board games together, filling the room with laughter and love. In addition to her parents, Pauline is preceded in death by three brothers: Leon Pasley, Leonard Pasley, and Lavonne Pasley; and one sister, Anna Marie Pasley. Kentucky. She was born on Monday, April 27, 1953, in Garden City, Michigan, to the late Lloyd Lynch and the late Hazel Ruby Williams Lynch Tincher. Sharon was a beloved member of the Irvine Free Methodist Church, known for her warmth and kindness. She enjoyed riding her Tennessee Walking Horses with her husband and taking car rides, exploring the scenic back roads together. In the kitchen, Sharon was a talented cook, especially famous for her homemade biscuits, a skill she learned from her Granny Mae, who also taught her valuable life lessons. She worked at the Irvine Health Care and Rehabilitation Center and Hardee’s, sharing her love of cooking with those around her. Sharon adored spending time with her grandchildren, cherishing every moment with them. Her infectious smile and warm hugs could brighten any room, and her upbeat spirit made her a true joy to be around, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. In addition to her parents, Sharon is preceded in death by her husband, Danny McIntosh, and one brother, Greg Lynch. on Thursday, September 5, 1940, in Stanton, Kentucky, to the late Courtney Issac Roberts and the late Zola Pearl Neal Roberts. In her youth, Rachel embraced the hustle and bustle of the restaurant scene as a waitress at Dalton’s and Bruen’s Restaurants. Throughout her career, she dedicated years of service to Gale’s Market and the Powell County Detention Center, worked tirelessly as a factory employee at C.M.S., and provided care and supervision as a bus monitor for Powell County Schools. Known for her skill as a seamstress, Rachel crafted beautiful garments with great precision and creativity. She loved games, often seen seated at the kitchen table, laughter filling the air as she played dominoes or various card games with family and friends. Rachel’s upbeat personality was truly a beacon of light; she always wore a warm smile that could brighten anyone’s day. Generosity defined her spirit, as she frequently went out of her way to lend a helping hand to those in need. Family was at the heart of Rachel’s world, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Her bond with her siblings was particularly special, filled with warmth and love. Deeply rooted in her faith, Rachel eagerly participated in church activities at Stanton Christian Church, always seeking the community and connection her spiritual life offered. In addition to her parents, Rachel is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Cecil Drake; her daughter, Teresa Pearl Kennon; two brothers: John Wayne Roberts and Charles Roberts; four sisters: Bonnie Crabtree, Phyllis McIntosh, Linda Thorpe, and Pearline Brewer; one grandchild, Zack Charles; and one great-grandchild, Danika Leighton Charles. Eldoria “Dody” Johnson,
age 87, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Andersonville, Tennessee. She was born on Saturday, March 12, 1938, in Stanton, Kentucky, to the late Jessie Mountz
McKinney and the late Eunice Wells McKinney. Dody was a cherished lifelong resident of Powell County, whose heart was deeply intertwined with the community she served. Known for her inviting smile and warm spirit, she dedicated much of her life to the culinary arts, bringing joy to those around her through her cooking at Mildred’s Diner, Clay City Restaurant, Cotton’s Restaurant, and as the former owner of Bruen’s Restaurant in Stanton. Dody found immense joy in singing Bluegrass Gospel music, her beautiful voice resonating with the heartbeats of her family and friends, and watching their smiles blossom as they enjoyed her meals, which brought her great happiness and a deep sense of pride. Central to her life were the pillars of Family and Faith. As the seventh of sixteen siblings, Dody’s upbringing was rich in camaraderie and love. She had a special bond with her brothers and sisters, and when surrounded by family, her eyes lit up with affection and joy. Dody’s family was her greatest treasure, and she relished the moments spent with them, creating lifelong memories and sharing much laughter with her playful sense of humor. A devoted believer, she found strength and purpose in her faith, embracing every opportunity to serve the Lord and her community with love. In addition to her parents, Dody is preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Ellen Wasson; four brothers: David Anderson McKinney, Kendall McKinney, William Franklin McKinney, and Farrell Ray McKinney; and eight sisters: Mildred Estes, Laverne Tharpe, Thelma Bishop, Wilma Bishop, Jeanette Charles, Irene Olinger, Dorothy Mae McKinney, and Beulah Ann McKinney. She is survived by five daughters: Eunice Marlene Wasson and Zaundra Gail Swanson, both of Nancy, Kentucky, Martha Lorraine (Barry) Morton of Andersonville, Tennessee, Annitta Irene Lykins of Ohio, and Thelma “Shamo” (James) Creech of Stanton, Kentucky; three sisters: Kathlene Rogers of Stanton, Janet Flippo of Clay City, and Berneice Wills of Winchester; seventeen grandchildren: LaRain, Rhonda, Amy, Tracy, Jessica, Travis, Eldoria Irene, Farrell Ray, Adam, Bonnie, Johnna, Ben, Tabitha, Tara, Devon, David Keith, and Christopher; forty-seven great-grandchildren; and twenty great-great grandchildren.
