81, of Mount Sterling, Kentucky passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Cambridge Nursing and Rehab, Lexington. He was born July 17, 1944 in Morgan County, Kentucky, to the late Edward and Opal May Dennis. James was a retired custodian for the Montgomery County School System where he serviced for several years. He was also a faithful member of Lexington United Baptist Church. James was a farmer and mechanic who could fix just about anything that needed repaired. One of his greatest joys was playing his guitar and singing for the Lord at Church. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 28 years, Barbara Dennis of Mount Sterling, sons, Danny Dennis, Darrin Dennis, and Quinton Dennis; daughters, Donna Branham, Denice Bush, and Nawasa Dennis; stepsons, Rodney Mitchell, Doug Mitchell, and Harold Ballard; brother, Stanley Dennis; sister, Deloris Berkiehiser; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including his very special great-granddaughter, Peyton Mitchell, who shared a uniquely close and loving bond with him; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Robin Dennis; brothers, Willie Dennis, Leroy Dennis, Carl Dennis, and Denzil Dennis; and sister, Lodema McCarty. James will be remembered for his kind heart, willingness to help anyone in need, and his love for his family, music, and the Lord. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. She was born May 11, 1945 in Winchester, Kentucky to the late Leonard D. and Chelsea Hall Rogers. Survivors include, son, Bryan K. 70, of Zachariah, husband of Carla Lynn Townsend, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Kentucky River Medical Center, Jackson. He was born December 7, 1955 in Campton, Kentucky to the late George William and Sarah Vivian Wilburn Townsend. David began working as an oil field worker and later became a truck driver, hauling coal, cattle, chemicals, and oil. His handle name was, “Chopperman”. David was an avid hunter, enjoyed watching Nascar, and riding his harley. Survivors include wife of 43 years, Carla Townsend; son, Terance Devin Townsend; and sister, Jeanna Lee Townsend.
